It takes around 90 minutes to get there (72 kms / 45 miles from the Juan Santamaría International Airport). From San José take the Interamericana Highway going north. Pass the Juan Santamaría International Airport and after 10 km. (6 miles), take the exit on your right to Atenas (Manolo's exit) where you will see a sign of Punta Leona. Continue on the road following the signs for Punta Leona, Jaco and Quepos. You will pass the towns of Atenas, San Mateo, Orotina, and Tarcoles. You will see the PUNTA LEONA entrance gate on the right hand side of the road 5 kms (3 miles) after you pass the Tarcoles Bridge. You will be in heaven!
